Favorite Eats Around Denver: Sushi Edition

Denver is land locked. How good could your sushi be? The answer? Good. Real Good. Denver neighborhoods each seem to have their own unique sushi spots. Here are some of my favorites (mostly in South Denver cause that is where my food loving self lives):

Taku Sushi

This spot nestled into a strip mall by Wing Wok (another one of my favorites for a delicious Korean style sandwich), is doing all the things right. We love to get their Japanese fried rice with the spicy mayo and as many regular, go-to rolls that sound delicious. What really sets them apart in my opinion is their sushi rice— it is subtly sweet in a way. It’s good.

Sushi Den/Izakaya Den

The Denver classics. The staples. The OG delicious sushi spots. On Old South Pearl and amazing both. Get the Kobe Beef roll and thank me later. Everyone always says it’s so good but so expensive. And here is my thought on this—Don’t. Order. Alcohol. And. You. Can. Spend. $60. AT. Sushi Den.

Sushi Basho

Another strip mall type joint. But this time in Littleton. I really love their soups: hot n sour, egg drop. Yum. A solid good sushi spot.

Sushi Train

Yes, there is a train that will deliver your sushi. Yes, it is the opposite of fine dining. Yes, they sometimes do $1 beers. And YES, the crunchy scallop roll really does warrant a trip to this spot right off of South Hampden/in the Southmoore area.

Rice Bistro

There are two locations of this spot. Their menu is like the Asian food version of the Cheesecake Factory. There is a LOT going on. If you sort through the noise though, you will find delicious sushi, serviceable pad Thai, sesame chicken that is ooey gooey good, and I actually like their curries!

47 Sushi and Bistro

I am including this spot for my Highlands Ranch friends. But beware- it is expensive and frankly, not as good and surprisingly delightful as Taku.

Land of Sushi

To close out the list we have land of sushi… a spot that is across the parking lot from one of my favorite Chinese spots. (I digress). The most notable thing about this spot is the SIZE OF THE ROLLS! THEY ARE GIGANTIC!

So, tell me. Where do you sushi in Denver?
